Choose a project management tool and avoid these six minefields

Entrepreneurship is a technical job, choosing tools is only the first step, and there are still many difficulties waiting for you in the follow-up.

unlike large companies, entrepreneurial teams are characterized by flat, efficient features. these features help it make decisions quickly, execute them immediately, and complete excess work in a limited amount of time. but to ensure that these features continue to work, we must not only use some methods, but also choose tools that are in line with the specific scenarios and configurations that the team has. strive to maximize the role of characteristics.

in order to improve the level of project management and win the market competition, project management software is very hot, here i share some small skills, avoid the minefield of choosing collaborative management tools.

1. minefield one: the more functional plugins the better

nowadays, many collaboration tools are required to be large and complete, and the meaning of the product itself is lost, and collaboration is not born to improve efficiency, but becomes a resistance to the progress of the project.

2. minefield two: project management should not be just a list of tasks

a good collaboration tool requires a clean and tidy view, a handy schedule, and a more focused presentation of goals. this is not enough by listing the tasks.

3. minefield three: simple, free, and applicable all turn into gimmicks

some collaboration tools advertise that are free but vary greatly from paid features and free. the simple-based collaboration function has a very high threshold for entry, and eventually some people in the team spend some cost to learn.

4. minefield four: give some project managers the illusion of safety

first, the project manager will think that the project will be better managed thanks to the powerful software.

second, if the project deviates from the plan, the project manager will think that the software can find a way to get the project back on track.

third, if the software is not used properly, it may show that the project is doing well, but this is not the case, and it is very dangerous for the software alone to show that everything is normal.

5. minefield five: over-reliance on software

people who lack a basic knowledge of project management sometimes use software without knowing what it really does. without mastering the basic concepts of project management, software doesn't make much sense. in layman's terms, project management software is just a tool to help you work more efficiently and effectively, and the software can't manage the project on its own. when you do project management, you must rely on your own skills and rely on the skills of your team.

6. minefield six: frequent replacement of collaboration tools
are tools really important? my feeling is that familiarity with a tool in the team is often more important than whether the tool works well! many tools are not bad to use, in fact, most of the tools are provided with enough basic functions, and the significance of the choice is not particularly large.

more often, it is that everyone does not know, does not use this tool well, and then uses the tool as an excuse to rip it off, delaying the development time.

in addition, the use of tools is one is to understand, and the other is to be combined with the specific process, and the process is the core content. in other words, do your current job, if you are using a tool, then do not casually say to replace, but should consider how to use this tool better, the cost of replacing the tool is often greater!

serious efforts to use the current tools, good coordination, coupled with the right process of running-in, this is the best combination.

if your tool is not comfortable with how to use, then well, see if your process is flawed, there are inter-problems, and then after the overall thinking is deleted, the reasonable choice of tools can be considered as a last resort.

entrepreneurship is a technical job, choosing tools is only the first step, and there are still many difficulties waiting for you in the follow-up.
