it is a general it system in the manufacturing industry. many companies have a production management system in place to manage performance. there is also a scratch system made according to our own manufacturing, but many companies that visited have introduced a production management system (erp). after mass production prototypes, there is no turn of pm in the area of repeated production. pm has received many proposal opportunities from companies that manufacture projects up to prototype development and mass production before this work, and products close to individual order production, such as machine manufacturers. recently, there have been more opportunities for multiple teams to consider long-term r&d projects.

companies that have a production management system have been able to manage their daily results well, but they seem to be struggling at the stage of production planning. (it systems in the manufacturing industry (1))


the other day, we asked a customer who visited the problem that the production plan output from erp is combined according to the delivery date, so there are no instructions depending on the day, and one day it is not possible to level. at the stage of production planning, i don't think many companies use external tools such as production scheduler to create production plans.


pm is a need for individual make-to-order production planning that is difficult to manage with erp and scheduler. machine manufacturers that have case studies have product models that suit their applications, but most projects are customized to meet the needs of customers. in addition, in the contract manufacturing of drugs that we proposed recently, raw materials are supplied from pharmaceutical manufacturers, so plans were made while checking the available people and equipment by a predetermined deadline. in individual make-to-order production with different requirements each time, it is difficult to plan by scheduler because the tat is not constant, and many companies plan in excel.


pm can template lead times for each process for each manufacturing model. new deals call the manufacturing model template during the planning phase and modify the process tasks in the template to meet individual order requirements, but the template allows you to quickly create a highly accurate plan without nukemole. in addition, pm makes it easy to register man-hours performance and the progress rate of each task, so you can grasp the progress in real time by number. since the final cost by number is managed by the production management system, the registered man-hours results are linked to the production management system using the data output function.

When registering milestones, you can set the quality standards and review patterns of each process registered in the domain (template) in advance. At the end of each prototype development process, you can record the results of a design review by calling the required milestones from the milestone list.

recently, we proposed pm in project management during the r&d phase. the company said that more than 10 teams were developing individual research themes over a period of four years. when we visited, we had already seen several tools such as open source project management tools, but we concluded that the tools we examined had many registration steps that could be managed in various ways and did not fit the project management of r&d. in qa after introducing the functions of pm, we were asked "is there a function to report weekly?", so when we introduced the weekly report function of project members implemented in version 5.5, it has been highly evaluated that it is close to the current weekly report.


3PM WEEKLY REPORTING


in research and development to develop elemental technologies, how to proceed with the plan is delegated to each team, so detailed task management may not be necessary. i felt that it was more important to have a system that allows the department to share the results and achievements of activities on research themes.


ENHANCEMENT OF FUTURE PM MANUFACTURING VERSION


in the year since the release of the manufacturing version, i have visited a number of manufacturing industries, but i have found that there is a different project management need than it companies. in particular, what i feel is different from the project of an it company is that the organization is divided in each process.



4 process control in the manufacturing industry



since the design department manages the design process of multiple calls and the manufacturing department manages the manufacturing process of multiple production units, the progress of all production numbers that are moving across the company is shared by the planning department periodically collecting information and dropping it into the large process table. if one process is delayed, it will affect the next process and other manufacturing processes, so there are many requests to alert you to delays. 

 

in addition, for design reviews, the current pm specifications for the quality control department to register the review results on behalf of them, but there are many requests that we want to leave the evaluation results of reviewers in each department that participated in the review.


pm's manufacturing version has only been released for one year, but we have already received many requests. please look forward to the requests you have been able to reflect in future upgrades as a general-purpose function that many customers can use.
