The key success factors for the project manager

Whether or not we are referred to as "project managers", i believe we have experienced being appointed to manage a project:

Have you ever been responsible for the establishment or relocation of an office? have you ever been responsible for an event such as a conference or seminar?

Have you ever been responsible for six sigma process improvements or business method improvements? if any of the above answers are yes,

You can say you've been a project manager. the next time you have the opportunity to manage your project, be aware of the following factors that will help you succeed:

first, reach consensus on the project objectives.

ensure agreement is reached with management, project sponsors and other stakeholders on the project's objectives and objectives. what problems can this project solve?

What is the desired end result? what is the need for this project? goals should be specific and measurable. clear and measurable goals help define the scope of the project.

second, develop a well-defined plan and assign responsibilities and responsibilities.

planning is not just about entering tasks into software applications, it's about defining all deliverables, as well as the tasks and associated risks that are necessary to produce deliverables.

Responsibilities should be assigned to tasks and deliverables with appropriate deadlines and responsibilities. the planning process should also include risk management activities and communication needs. developing a project schedule is only part of the planning process.

third, effective management of the scope of the project.

the scope of the project is defined during the goal setting and planning phases of the project. if only the range remained the same, but this is the real world! the project manager must keep abreast of changes in scope and manage them effectively.

Are these changes necessary for the success of the project? or is it just a good choice? how do these changes affect budgets and schedules?

Does everyone think changes are necessary?

How do i track these changes? scope management is one of the more challenging parts of project management.

Fourth, cultivate continuous and effective communication.

Identify the channels of communication required to report project progress to stakeholders. management and project sponsors may want periodic status reports, or only focus and exceptions. suppliers, customers and/or consumers may require work reports, contracts, and progress reviews.

The project team requires assignments and regular briefings. the frequency and type of communication for each channel should be defined and managed. integrate the communication plan into the project plan, and then communicate, communicate, and then communicate! many projects fail because of poor communication.

Fifth. ensure the support of management.

This has to do with "consensus on clear project objectives". management must agree that the project is important, add business value, or address an urgent issue.

If management doesn't see the value of the project, they won't be willing to support it. without management support, personnel and financial resources may not be available for the project. if an organization has a large number of projects, management support may be limited to those that are critical to business success. lack of management support is the main reason for the project's failure.
